Heya, just wanted to let you all know I probably won't be in game much over the next two weeks.

Work is pretty crazy this week so with early mornings it means i don't get to play swg the night before while people are online anyway, darn timezones!

Next week will probably be about the same because even though I have a week off work I have some crazy space pirate american (Boh) visiting so he won't be around ingame either

State of SWG for Jun 5 09

Good morning everyone. Today I have off and decided to login to SWG to see how things are going. The servers were up on time surprisingly enough, but there are issues:

Voice chat and every chat channel, including tells, has been shut off. Intentionally, I'm sure, due to the problems. Bringing up the holomail window will show an empty box. The friends list will show you who is in your list if you've already added friends, but at the moment no more friends can be added(I tried, didn't work). I think the guild list is working properly, though it is difficult to tell. The only other member it's showing online right now is Kkaktaji.

Also, if anyone is able to grant zoning rights in New Kestic I would like to put a couple houses down in it. Lok appears to have room in the level 3 and up cities now and I want to help the city to grow.

I got an email from SOE today apologizing for the mistaken banning of my accounts. They even offered me a free month by way of apology. Downright decent of them. So I'm reactivating one of my accounts (Lynese and Jerint) and reinstalling. See y'all this evening sometime.

The MMO Wasteland

Greetings former guild-mates! I return from the shadows...at least to the forums...with my status report!

Since my departure, I have explored the depths of the MMO seas. I have played City of Heroes and City of Villains, Everquest II, Lord of the Rings Online, Warhammer Online, Runes of Magic, Perfect World International, Age of Conan (and boy did it hammer my computer), D&D Online, Vanguard, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, and EVE Online. I'm pretty sure I forgot a couple in there.

Frankly, they all suck. The only one that presents something even remotely similar to the joyous sandbox experience of Days Gone By (also known as SWG Pre-CU) was Ryzom, which took the sandbox experience to a whole new level...and had maybe a dozen people on scattered over three continents at prime time EST.

I have tried to get help finding a new game to play on MMORPG.com. Take my advice...don't.

I have sought far and wide to get into betas for Champions Online and Aion without success.

I have prayed to the Gods of Darkness and Light (also known as Lucas and Spielberg, respectively) that each new bit of information about Star Wars: The Old Republic wouldn't make it look more like yet another WoW clone. The Gods have failed me.

And so I return to you from my lost wanderings and say to you this: If you can stand it, stick with Galaxies. As bad as it can be, it's better than anything else out there right now. I'm considering reactivating one of my accounts just so I can bum around with you guys once in a while, but that depends on whether or not I can get a written retraction and apology from SOE regarding the circumstances surrounding my abrupt departure.

So, if anybody knows of a game I've missed, let me know. I'll take a look at it.

Updating the Forums

I've decided that it is time to updat the forums to the standard edition from the freebie version. So I've just spent $50 to upgrade these as we seem to be using these rather frequently. This will give us the ability to have more than 3 forums, which I hope to expand and be able to use for RP purposes. I already have a few ideas in mind for gathering information and things like that which will requre additional forums.

So they might be down today.

Amandiona and I will be away for the weekend. I'm going to a PKU Walk-A-Thon in my Storm Trooper Armour. PKU is a genetic condition which I have that prevents me from breaking down a specific amino acid. If it builds up in my system I get brain damage.

My internet at the house is out and has been since sometime last night. I'm not 100% sure why, and we've rebooted everything and I even called dsl support and they couldn't figure it out. So they've sent it to the local station to be fixed. So not really sure when we will be back in game. Amandiona was not happy about it at all because she doesn't want to miss Nomad Market and neither do I but it could take a while to get fixed according to the person I spoke to on the phone.

New Space Game

I know some of you are waiting on Star Trek: Online as well as Jumpgate, as am I. But here is another game that will be coming out that is similar to Jumpgate and looks pretty good. In case you guys haven't seen it yet here is the link. The game is called Black Prophecy and it is a space sim game similar to JTL, except with a better graphics engine and a darker space rogue kind of theme. The video of the gameplay footage looks pretty damn good, but check it out!
