Well I wanted to post a few different topics that I would like to discuss over the next few weeks or so before we have a guild meeting. I feel that once Amandiona and I are settled in our house we will plan to have a guild meeting with everyone. I hope this meeting will allow the newest members to get an idea of the guild a bit better because I forgot to give them an entry interview (oops )

Topics:
Recruitment
Positions
Ranks
PvP
Instances
Crafting
Events
Upcoming Event
Twitter
Ventrilo - Added by Sedeia
Club House - Item Swap

So those are the major topics. I will reply below with some comments on each topic. Please let me know your thoughts on some or all of these topics.

Thanks,
Gwreng

Recruitment

Recruitment in the past has been a difficult process for me. Only recently have I had better success with it than I have in the past. The way I have done recruitment has been to post on the forums, if someone is interested direct them to the website to sign up. This shows that they are interested, intent on joining, and want to contribute even if they don't post here. After that I schedule an interview with them where I generally wing it talking to them about their profession etc. Generally you are given about two weeks. Another way that I have allowed members  in is if they are a friend of a member already, or if they spent some time with us on a hunt or event or something. I feel I need to outline more about the guild during this process. Are there things that you would like me to outline, or wish I had discussed during the interview? Did you not get an interview? (I know I missed some)

Positions

These are generally for RP purposes as they are corporate positions. I've not outlined any new ones recently but I have a few in mind. Each position has a goal or responsability. I have outlined a few here in the past to see what if anyone would be interested in doing to help out but haven't really followed through with it. I don't expect this to be a second job, and I don't expect you to want to do it all the time. Here are a few I've been thinking about. Chief Security Officer (CSO), Chief Operations Officer (COO) , Chief Personnel Officer (CPO). CSO is the head of the combat/security division the PvE, PvP, Instance side anything dealing with combat. COO, is the head of the crafting division, making sure we have a list of crafters and know what their professions are. CPO, is responsible for recruiting new members.

Ranks

These are for the hidden rebel side of  the corp mostly. I haven't really defined any ranks yet, and again they are for RP purposes as I see us all as equals anyway and not really a strict chain of command.

PvP

I enjoy it, others enjoy it, and others don't so don't worry we're not going to force you to come do it. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Instances

I do these for the entertainment value more than anything else, but they do have some benefits that relate to combat, and any rebel activites we might plan. What are your thoughts?

Crafting

This has been the primary focus of our group as it maintains our cover as a rebel organization. I'm pretty sure that all if not most of us have crafting alts. I would like to work to put together a list of crafters and their professions. I have that going in the Crafter's Corner forum so if you haven't posted there please do.

Events

I like these, finding them can be tricky though. However, Every saturday evening at about 6:00 are the RP'd Space PvP Events, there are also some on Sunday which are more on the RP side than the PvP side I believe. The space events on Saturday are something that I started and have carried on since then, and they were mostly focused on RP outcomes. Hoping to get back to these once things with the house settle.

Upcoming Event

I've been working on an event/story arch that will or does include a number of anchor events. Basically these are events that anchor some of the RP that will take place in between. I'm going to be kicking these off by gathering a number of Rebels together for a major meeting. I've discussed this quite a bit and currently going to be looking for speakers at the event, as well as hopefully run a little storyteller thing whilst I'm there.

RP

The state of RP on Starsider has shifted from what I have known. A lot of people have retreated to enclaves of their own, and it is very difficult to just get a pick-up RP going. I prefer more spontanious RP myself which can be rather discouraging as it seems most have become pre-planned. We won't even mention Mos Eisley. I'm hoping that I can encourage RP with in the guild, as well as with other guilds in the coming weeks. If you have any comments on this it is probably the most important one to comment on as we are RPers. I feel like I need to RP out some of the things we're doing more so. For example if we're going to do TK or some space stuff or something?

Corporate News (RP)

It has been a little while since I've posted to the main page of this website but I hope to keep it updated with various things happening with in FDWS and the guild in general. If you have any stories or anything that you would like to post up please let me know and I can post them for you.

Twitter

Not sure how many poeple actually use, or have heard of this? I have an account but I really do not do a thing with it. So I thought it might be useful to the guild for coordinating raids/instances/events in the evenings whilst we're at work or wherever. For example, last night we went to Tusken King and I could have posted a note about it on twitter. If you're signed up for it you would have gotten an alert either by email or on your cell phone which you could then respond to. Would make for coordinating groups a bit better.

That's pretty much it, do you have any other ideas for topics?

I'd add Ventrilo to the agenda, Gwreng, so we have another option for voice communication that can include everyone who currently is struggling with ingame chat.

My thoughts. You asked for it! ;-)

Recruitment: I think the current recruitment method is working fine. I enjoyed my interview, and I think it helped me get settled into the guild more quickly.

Positions: Sounds like a good idea. I don't know if we're really organized enough to have a CSO, but I'd be willing to give the job a try. The only problem is I've never run half of the instances and...well, you've all seen how frustrated PVP can make me. :-D

Instances: Hell yes I want to run these. Lynese will never be able to get her Master robes without them. Not that I think I stand a chance in hell of either a) finishing the Holo collections or b) beating the two Jedi statues. It's the only way for me and Root (and any other Jedi in the guild, of course) to get our best armor (!*&holes) and our best weapons (yeah, again).

RP: Bring it on!

Events: I'd love to do some stuff in space, especially now that I have (semi)working voice chat. I swear to god, I'll get my mic working tonight if I have time. I'd also love some help getting Lynese to Master Pilot finally. It's been five years. It's time.

Corporate News: Ah, a creative writing challenge. I think I can put something together.

First of all, I'd like to add my support of Magnus' post. I completely agree with everything said!

Perhaps another subject for discussion is the creation of a storage facility for guild members to share collection pieces, resources, and loot items. I can only go on my own experience in this, and the various results we had:

Houses with packs or cabinets - with the group we currently have, I think this can work really well, as long as we are clear about what we think is actually worth sharing, so that we don't quickly run out of room. Of course, this method also requires that we all agree that nothing we take is going to simply be turned around to be sold for profit, but is actually going to be used. And finally, as we grow, we'll want to probably use the next method of storage, simply because we all know that with growth comes the incidental bad apple.

Private Vendor - This is what my guild used, because we had a large number of Members, some of whom we didn't know all that well. It reduced risk obviously, and because folks had to ask for an item, they were less likely to be selfish. In this case, we had the vendor located in our city of Euphrates, on Lok, and my alt Nokah, managed the vendors - armor, weaponry, etc. Members would request what they wanted, in an ingame mail, and Nokah could then pull it out for the Member. This method worked really well, mostly because I was able to stay on top of the requests, and as Mayor at the time, everyone knew they could also simply come ask me.

In any case, with the various needs of our Members, I know I'm beginning to see that what I'm currently selling on my vendor, probably could be quite useful to other Members, and I'd much rather give them to a friend.

These are good topics. At one time we had a "Club House" sort of thing where we would dump stuff for people to share. I tried to set this up again when I came back but had a slight issue. We had a vendor in a house that had a cover charge/entry fee of 50K. Most people wouldn't pay that to get in and buy something but I guess they changed it so that it only lasts two days now. I had put up some swoops for the guild to test and someone managed to get in and clear out the vendor So since then I haven't messed with it, but now that they have access control locks I'm wondering if we couldn't devise some system that would be easier for us.

The system that you talked about would be good but managing it would be important. So we would need a quartermaster basically heh. Which I would like to have for the guild anyway.

The last guild I was in - as abominable as they were - did one thing that I thought worked really well. They put up a guild hall specifically for the storage of things that might be useful for other members of the guild. Guild members in good standing were then given Admin rights to the building so they could take what they needed and leave things they didn't that others might.

It worked particularly well for collections and junk loot.
